PeeWee Swimming lessons - Level 1
Lily just started taking swimming lessons at our local Recenter. She is in the PeeWee I class, in which the prerequisites include being comfortable in the water and willing to leave parents. I was a little nervous before she began her lessons because she has been quite hesitant in past pool experiences. I was happily surprised to see that she absolutely loves going to her swimming lessons each morning- so much so that today she even asked if she was going swimming before asking about breakfast! Her teacher, Mr. Ron, is very nice and not at all intimidating. He never pushes her too far past her comfort level, which is important because out of this experience, I am really hoping that she gains confidence in the water and don't expect her to be swimming by the end of this. Although I know that some kids her age are swimming already, all kids move at their own pace- At the end of her first lesson, Mr. Ron said "I can see that this is difficult for her, but she is doing a fine job."- hehe:) Regardless, I am proud of her because she is paying attention for the most part and trying everything that she is asked to do.
Here's Sophie watching and pointing out Lily swimming. I really need to bring an extra towel for her because she is quite reluctant to give it up at the end of Lily's lesson!
Mr. Ron kindly gave her this duckie to keep her occupied and it did for a good 15 minutes.
The aligator crawl!
Not exactly sure of the purpose (I'm sure there is one, though) of doing the aligator crawl through this hoolahoop, but Lily enjoyed it nonetheless.

Before towel and after!

Here they are enjoying a little hash brown/orange juice snack at McDonalds to celebrate the end of a successful first week of swimming lessons:) Lily's homework for the weekend is to continue practicing blowing bubbles in the bathtub through her mouth and nose with her face partially and fully submerged if possible!
